We’ve made changes to our mobile and broadband checker tool, making it more accessible and offering information on which companies offer services in your area.
The mobile and broadband checker lets you:
- check indoor and outdoor mobile availability for phone calls and mobile internet services from all major providers;
- view broadband availability for any UK address; and
- get tips on how to improve your internet connection or mobile coverage.
All you need to do is enter your postcode and address, and you’ll be provided with details of predicted mobile coverage by provider, as well as availability of broadband services – standard, superfast and ultrafast.
The mobile data is based on signal level predictions provided by the four UK mobile network operators.
The broadband data is based on availability and predicted speeds data provided by the UK's major internet service providers.
Mobile signals and broadband speeds can be affected by a number of factors, such as the number of devices using a network at the same time. So your experience at home may differ from the coverage predictions in the checker.
If, when searching for broadband services, the results show that you can’t get a download speed of 10Mbit/s, this means you might be eligible for the broadband Universal Service Obligation (USO).
Under the USO, if you can’t get a download speed of 10 Mbit/s and an upload speed of 1 Mbit/s, you can request an upgraded connection. You can make this request to BT, or to KCOM if you live in the Hull area. You don’t need to be an existing BT or KCOM customer to apply.
Our coverage checker can’t tell you about temporary problems with services in your area. However your provider should be able to provide this information.
