Ofcom is required to encourage service providers to ensure that their services are progressively made more accessible to people with disabilities affecting their sight or hearing, or both. The Digital Economy Act 2017 introduced new provisions into the Act enabling the Secretary of State to make regulations to impose requirements on providers of ODPS for the purpose of ensuring that their services are accessible to people with disabilities in particular, people with disabilities affecting their sight or hearing. We are working with the Government to introduce these new provisions.
