Ofcom has imposed a £200,000 fine on Club TV Limited in relation to its service Peace TV Urdu for failing to comply with our broadcasting rules.
On 22 November 2017 at 09:00, the Licensee broadcast an episode of the series Kitaab-ut- Tawheed on Peace TV Urdu. This episode focused on the Islamic punishment of magicians (and those who practise magic).
In Ofcom’s Decision published on 22 July 2019 in Broadcast and On Demand Bulletin (PDF, 1.3 MB) 383, Ofcom found that the programme failed to provide adequate protection to members of the public from the inclusion of offensive and harmful material and had breached Rules 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 2.3 of the Ofcom Broadcasting Code (PDF, 1.2 MB).
Ofcom has imposed a sanction on the Licensee of a financial penalty of £200,000.
