Annual monitoring report on the postal market

Published: 7 December 2023
Last updated: 28 October 2024

Ofcom monitors the postal market in the UK, gathering a lot of data. Maintaining an effective monitoring regime is an important part of how we regulate postal services.

It helps us understand:

  • how well Royal Mail, the provider of the universal service, is performing as a business;
  • changes in the parcel and letter markets; and
  • individual and business customers' experience of the postal markets.

Every year we publish the main findings from our monitoring. This includes a written report and interactive data, so you can explore our findings in more detail.
