Communications providers and operators of essential services in digital infrastructure are required to comply with security and availability obligations. These include managing security risks, minimising impact on consumers, and reporting any security breaches or network failures to us.
As part of our programme to enable strong and secure networks for people across the UK, Ofcom carries out various activities to oversee network security and resilience, and ensure providers comply with the rules. We continue to work closely with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and industry to monitor potential risks as well as providing guidance and advice to support new legislative frameworks.
