Ofcom has commissioned the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) to carry out research to further our understanding of online pornography services, with a particular focus on the way in which pornographic content is published or displayed and how easily it can be accessed by users in the UK.
The BBFC is an independent regulator with experience working on the classification of pornography. The research is intended to inform our production of codes and guidance under both Part 3 and Part 5 of the Online Safety Act.
All findings are based on information that was publicly available without registering a user account on the services examined.
