Ofcom has given its consent to a request from the BBC to broadcast exclusive live coverage of Finals and Non-Finals play in the 2015 Wimbledon Tennis Championships (‘The Championships’). The Wimbledon Championships Finals and Non-Finals play are, respectively, Group A and Group B listed sporting events under the Broadcasting Act 1996. The Non-Finals play commences on Monday 29 June 2015.

The BBC and the All England Lawn Tennis Company (‘AELTC’) will be sharing coverage of the Championships.

The BBC will broadcast coverage on its terrestrial channels (BBC1 and BBC2), and on their interactive streams.

The AELTC plans to show parts of the same games broadcast by the BBC on its “Live@Wimbledon” service on the AELTC-owned Official Wimbledon website (Wimbledon.com).

Ofcom invited views on the application but received no adverse responses within the timeframe stipulated in the request for comments from interested parties.

The rules on listed events, including the criteria which broadcasters must meet in order to obtain consent, are set out in the Code on Sports and Other Listed and Designated Events.
