Following a request received from ITV and BBC for consent to broadcast live coverage of part of the Euro 2012 Football Championships, Ofcom invited comments from other broadcasters and interested parties by April 2012.
Ofcom received no adverse response to the consultation and therefore, after considering information supplied by the BBC and ITV in support of their applications, Ofcom has decided to grant consent to the proposed coverage.
ITV and the BBC will be sharing coverage of Euro 2012. All of the matches which they will be showing will be on ITV1, BBC One or BBC Two except for two occasions in the earlier stages of the tournament which clash with other matches on the same evening and which will therefore be shown on ITV or BBC digital channels.
