Principles for setting licence fees and administrative charges: Review of Ofcom’s Statement of Charging Principles

Under the Communications Act 2003 ("the Act"), Ofcom is required to set licence fees in the broadcasting sector and administrative charges in the electronic communications sector in accordance with charging principles that it has published. There are similar provisions in the Postal Services Act 2011 in relation to the setting of charges for the postal services sector. On a year on year basis, such charges and fees must be set so as to meet but not to exceed Ofcom's annual costs of regulating the relevant sector.
