Ofcom and some of the UK's leading telecoms and technology organisations have signed Women in Tech, a pledge committing to promote the role of women in technology-based roles in the telecoms sector.

Women only make up a small percentage of the core science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce, and the telecoms sector acknowledges the challenge of achieving gender diversity in tech-based roles.

In an effort to address this challenge, Ofcom and major UK telecoms and technology organisations have come together to pledge to help more women build rewarding careers in the telecoms industry. The pledge aims to attract, retain and promote women in tech-based roles, complementing existing efforts in the sector. By joining forces, we strive to raise awareness and drive positive change.

  • As an industry we will come together annually to share good practice and showcase, to the outside world, our talented women in technology in the telecoms sector.
  • We will publish information on the impact our initiatives have made on our collective ambitions as well as against the diversity and inclusion strategies of our respective organisations. We aim to publish information on our initiatives, so we may inspire others in the sector.
